Late to Practice - 9/1/20

Good morning family, I hope you're enjoying this beautiful first day of September! Today, I must confess to you something I've been doing... I've been showing up late to practice. No, not practice for any sport, recital, or anything like that. I've showing up late to my time with God and forgetting to reschedule for a later time. And the stirring in my spirit affords me the understanding that the Lord wants you, me and whoever else gets convicted by this message to step up and show up for the things that matter, in this case it's Jesus Christ.

TODAY'S PRAYER
"Dear Heavenly Father, today we come to you with a spirit of repentance and determination to do better than the status quo regarding our efforts in You. Lord, we want to know You more and more each day, but we simply CANNOT do that unless we put in the absolutely necessary time. Lord, we ask that You might give us the strength, desire, and the ability to see and carve out time in our day to daily lives where we can spend time being intentional in our growth with You. In Jesus Christ name we pray, Amen. "

SCRIPTURE READING
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”  Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
Matthew 4:1‭-‬4 NIV

Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.”  He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”  Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”  Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Matthew 26:36‭-‬41 NIV

You see family, God has called us, including His own son the Messiah and Savior of all mankind, to be intentional and spend intentional time dedicated solely to getting to know, grow in, and become more like Him. I am here to tell you today that in those alone times with the Lord they are often nothing less than life-giving and transformative. On the flip side, if you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, I am also here to tell that His arms are open wide and is ready to accept you as His new son or daughter in His everlasting Kingdom! Have a blessed day! 🙂 #HeisWaiting
