How We Speak Matters - 11/16/21
Hey Family, these past two weeks have in a variety of ways been kind of challenging and unfortunately it has manifested in the way of not speaking with wholesome speech in all areas of my life. James 3, says that the tongue is a restless evil, full of deadly poison that cannot be tamed by man, but with the help of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ He can achieve through us what we cannot do in our own strength and understanding.
Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, You are the Creator of All, and You created us in Your image, but due to sin that creation has been corrupted and warped. However, through the matchless blood and body slain on the Cross, You made right what we allowed to become wrong through own freewill. You gave us the ability to use our bodies and abilities freely, but when we don't arm ourselves with the right protection we run the risk of a spiritual injury. And in that injured state, the enemy will use every evil tool at his disposal to lure us away from where Christ has called us to be. So, help us Lord to abide in You at all costs for the sake of the gospel and Your Kingdom. With all glory and honor to our Maker and Father in Heaven, Amen."
Scripture
Quick to Listen; Slow to Speak
James 1:19-21
"My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you."
You Have To Choose a Side
James 3:7-10
"All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be."
Guard Your Mouth and Rid it of Filth
Ephesians 4:29-32
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
Quote of the Day
"The tongue can only be tamed by the one who made it; our Creator, Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
- Alvy Butler, Jr.
Have a blessed day! 🙂
