My Boulder Amongst Rocks - 5/10/22
My Boulder Amongst Rocks
Hey Family, I want you to imagine yourself on an island and a huge storm is coming through. On the island, there are a lot of little rocks that you can grab and hold onto to weigh you down to prevent you from being swept away by the storm. There is also a huge boulder at the center of the island. Which do you choose? Logically, you would grasp tightly to the boulder. With it, you would gain shelter and significantly decrease your chances of being swept away. Brothers and sisters, that boulder is Jesus Christ who promises to never leave or forsake you, and the little rocks are the broken promises of security that the world offers.
Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for being the rock of our salvation and fortress from the storms of this life. We also repent for putting lesser lovers in front of or in place of You and believing the lies of this world. You are the only thing that matters in this life and You're the only One who can give us life. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray, Amen."
Scripture
Our Rock and Fortress
Psalms 144:1-11
"Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. Lord, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them? They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow. Part your heavens, Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke. Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy; shoot your arrows and rout them. Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful. I will sing a new song to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre, I will make music to you, to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David. From the deadly sword deliver me; rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful."
Quote of the Day
"Believe in God's word and power more than you believe your feelings and experiences. Your Rock is Christ, and it is not the Rock which ebbs and flows, but your sea."
- Samuel Rutherford
Have a blessed day! 🙂
