Get Away With God - 9/22/22

Get Away With God
Hey Family, today I want to talk about vacation. Who doesn't love a good vacation? Time to escape and find peace from the life we normally lead. Time to be refreshed, rejuvenated, reconnected with those closest to us. Time for a reset. This is all great and enjoyable, but how often do we do that with God? If you ever have the opportunity to physically get away from it all to primarily be with Jesus and give Him some of your precious and intimate time, it's an experience like no other!

Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, You know that many of us lead such busy lives and some may not say it, but we deeply desire time to get away from it all. But in that desire to get away, Lord, I pray that You would also put it in our hearts to want to use that get away to grow deeper in our intimacy and connection with You, rather than just pure indulgence. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer. Amen."

Scripture
Waiting for Him in Silence and Solitude
Lamentations 3:24‭-‬28
"I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young. Let him sit alone in silence, for the Lord has laid it on him."

Jesus Sets the Standard
Luke 6:12‭-‬13
"One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles:"

Mark 1:35
"Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed."

Jesus Breaks It Down for Us
Matthew 6:6
"But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Quote of the Day
"In the Kingdom of God, intimate times of solitude with Jesus through journaling, prayer, meditation on His word, and song, are just as valuable and important as time in deep and close-knit fellowship, prayer and song within the body of believers."
- Alvy Butler, Jr.

Have a blessed day! 🙂
