Protecting What's Important - 10/6/22

Protecting What's Important
Hey Family, today I want you to heed and ponder and meditate on what it means to guard your heart for Christ in light of the coming Kingdom. For one, I do not believe that it means that you cut off all chances for giving and receiving love. In contrast, the word 'guard' is also synonymous with 'protect', and it is my understanding that as Christians we ought to protect our hearts against the Enemies' flaming arrows (Eph. 6:16) and open up and invite in all that harbors the love of Christ. This being said, this boundary is put up and clarified for two reasons
1. So, that we might effectively reach the lost and broken for Christ's Kingdom & 2. We don't become corrupted by the World in the process.

Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, You have blessed each of us with one heart and one mind and given us the large and simple task of guarding it against the things of this world. Now, I know that this does not mean that You never want us to use our hearts, but rather be mindful of the way in which we use them. Help us, Lord, to put on the work gloves of our hearts to get into the weeds of the World so that we might remain Holy, clean, and upright before You, but still obedient to Your mighty call of loving those in the darkness. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer, Amen."

Scripture
Proverbs 4:23
"Above  all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

Philippians 4:6‭-‬7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Ephesians 6:10‭-‬13
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

Quote of the Day
"Putting on gloves allows us to do hard and dirty work without injuring or contaminating our hands, so in light of the Kingdom we must also put on the full Armor of God to protect our hearts from the schemes of the Enemy and the alluring lies of the world."
- Alvy Butler, Jr.

Have a blessed day! 🙂
