Lift Them Up in Prayer - 3/14/23
I believe that one of the most precious gifts that you can bless someone with is a genuine, honest, Holy Spirit covering prayer that lays them and the lives of those closest to them at the feet of Jesus Christ. Prayer holds immense power. Prayer radically changes people and creates a necessary barrier between them and the Enemy.
Scripture
Ephesians 6:18-20
"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."
James 5:13-20
"Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins."
Romans 8:26-30
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified."
Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, You have given us such a precious gift, by allowing us to come directly before You to lift up our brothers and sisters in Christ and the lost and lay them at Your feet. And Lord, even when we are at a loss for words, but we know through faith in the Holy Spirit that You can decipher and discern the contents of our hearts as we sit in Your presence. Almighty God, Creator of our very being and breath. Help us to abide in You. Equip us with the Armor of God for the fearless and effective delivery of the gospel to those in the darkness. Fill us up until we are brimming over with zeal and endurance to continually lift up Your Church and body in most holy prayer. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to You, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer, Amen."
Quote of the Day
"A Christian fellowship lives and exists by the intercession of its members for one another, or it collapses. I can no longer condemn or hate a brother for whom I pray, no matter how much trouble he causes me. His face, that hitherto may have been strange and intolerable to me, is transformed in intercession into the countenance of a brother for whom Christ died, the face of a forgiven sinner."
- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Have a blessed day! 🙂
