Refocus and Heed Discipline - 4/10/23

Refocus and Heed Discipline
Hey Family, it feels so good and right to have a our Heavenly Father, our King, Savior, and Friend to put our utmost focus on! These past few weeks have not been calm or restful, and have been filled with lots of ambiguity from birth of my daughter and the logistics and obligations that have followed. BUT the God I serve is far more faithful to me than I could ever be to Him and the blessings that have been poured out despite and inspire of our circumstances have made His faithfulness quite evident. All that to be said, I need a reset and refocus on the Creator. I'm not sure if you need one too, but if you do, let us abide together and kneel in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Scripture
He is Worthy of All Our Attention
Hebrews 12:1‭-‬15
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed. Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many."

Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, we love You back for all the ways in which you have lavished us in undeserved grace, love, patience, forgiveness and blessings! In light of a beautiful celebration of Easter yesterday, Lord, I need Your strength, wisdom, and ability to persevere far beyond the point of comfort to give You the adoration that You deserve! I am no great man on my own. In fact, I am dust on a barren wasteland without You. So, Father, please equip Your servant with all that is necessary to live and lead a life that is good and pleasing to You, as well as what is needed to actually love living and lead that lifestyle. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer, Amen."

Quote of the Day
"Self-discipline is often disguised as short-term pain, which often leads to long-term gains. The mistake many of us make is the need and want for short-term gains (immediate gratification), which often leads to long-term pain."
- Charles F. Glassman

Have a blessed day! 🙂
