True Security - 10/10/23

True Security
Hey Family, today and yesterday I have had conversations and time to meditate on the Word about having and holding onto a secure position in this life. Today we take a closer look at what true and false security looks like in the Kingdom of God.

Scripture
False Security
‭‭Isaiah‬47:5‭-‬15‬ ‭
[5] “Sit in silence, go into darkness, queen city of the Babylonians; no more will you be called queen of kingdoms. [6] I was angry with my people and desecrated my inheritance; I gave them into your hand, and you showed them no mercy. Even on the aged you laid a very heavy yoke. [7] You said, ‘I am forever— the eternal queen!’ But you did not consider these things or reflect on what might happen. [8] “Now then, listen, you lover of pleasure, lounging in your security and saying to yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me. I will never be a widow or suffer the loss of children.’ [9] Both of these will overtake you in a moment, on a single day: loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in full measure, in spite of your many sorceries and all your potent spells. [10] You have trusted in your wickedness and have said, ‘No one sees me.’ Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you when you say to yourself, ‘I am, and there is none besides me.’ [11] Disaster will come upon you, and you will not know how to conjure it away. A calamity will fall upon you that you cannot ward off with a ransom; a catastrophe you cannot foresee will suddenly come upon you. [12] “Keep on, then, with your magic spells and with your many sorceries, which you have labored at since childhood. Perhaps you will succeed, perhaps you will cause terror. [13] All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. [14] Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. These are not coals for warmth; this is not a fire to sit by. [15] That is all they are to you— these you have dealt with and labored with since childhood. All of them go on in their error; there is not one that can save you.

True Security
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27:1‭-‬14‬ ‭‬‬
[1] The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? [2] When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. [3] Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. [4] One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. [5] For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. [6] Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. [7] Hear my voice when I call, Lord; be merciful to me and answer me. [8] My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek. [9] Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. [10] Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me. [11] Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. [12] Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. [13] I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. [14] Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Encouragement in the Truth
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:17‭-‬18‬
17] Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. [18] But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, Creator of Heaven and Earth, the One who is most worthy of our everything, we bless Your Holy name this morning! Thank you Father for revealing in the truth of Your word what security in this life actually looks like. The media and the culture falsely parades and bombards us with what security looks like and today we ask in Your mighty name that You might shatter any and every lie that claims we can actually achieve true security in this life. There is no fountain of Youth. There is no amount of money that can buy our way into Heaven. And there is nothing that will quench the coming fire of the Day of the Lord. Only in and through Jesus Christ are we saved. So, Lord help us in our unbelief and let us seek safety only in You for all of our days. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen.

Quote of the Day
"Safety comes in our nearness to God, not in our distance from our enemies."
- Dillon Burroughs

Have a blessed day! 🙂
