Light in the Darkness - 8/11/20

 

Hello Family, many of you are experiencing the presence of darkness. That presence of darkness is in our hearts, in our nation, and quite literally in our homes for those of you who have lost power and are still without power due to last night's storm. For some, this spirit and literal darkness brings out the worst in us and yet for others, the best. The best way to determine where you are on that spectrum is to conduct a spiritual heart check. 

Today's Prayer:

"Dear Heavenly Father, today we come to You eternally thankful that You are an ever-shining light that flushes out the darkness and the sin, fear, and anxiety that are often birthed from it. Father, be a lamp unto our feet in these uncertain times and help us to trust You all the more when the World tells us that we're crazy for doing so. In Jesus Christ name we pray, Amen."

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

So, how do we do this heart check? I'm glad you asked. First, spend some time just talking to the Lord about all the things going on in your life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Next, you'll want to spend some time in the Word to get yourself some verification and evidence to base the status of your heart on, and don't be afraid or hesitant to look in more than one book of the Bible to find your answer either. Finally, jump back into conversation with the Lord and ask Him, "Father, I've found this information about what I believe You are claiming about my heart's status and my way of living. Is this accurate, and how can I take the proper steps to improve to bring glory and honor to You?" The Lord wants to remove the darkness in us more than we could ever know, but He needs us to be in the proper heart and mindset to do so fully. Have a blessed day! 🙂
