Switching the Spotlight - 10/28/20

Switching the Spotlight
Hello family, today I want to talk about an important aspect of theater and of life. It's the idea of taking the spotlight off of yourself and putting it upon Christ and to others. When we realize that we're not the most important person in the room, we have taken one of the first steps in holistic awareness.

TODAY'S PRAYER
"Dear Lord, today I recognize that You have given us the ability to focus on someone other than ourselves and to focus on someone else's needs/wants other than our own. In a world that has an epidemic of narcissistic behavior and culture, Lord, I ask that You would break in and challenge and change the status quo of "Me and Mine" to "Others and Theirs". This life is far too brief for us to only seek what makes us happy, so Lord, help us to embody and reflect the way in which Jesus Christ lived His life on Earth that we would make Earth look a little bit more like Heaven each day. In Jesus Christ name we pray, AMEN!"

SCRIPTURE
Do What Christ Did
Philippians 2:3‭-‬7 NIV
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. "

Don't Expect Reciprocity
Luke 6:34‭-‬36 NIV
"And  if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

THE MESSAGE
You see family, in the Kingdom and on Earth, Jesus made it abundantly clear that this life has so many things bigger than us and our needs and wants. Now, the Lord does and will always care for you in the utmost way, but let it be known that while He sustains us He calls us to aid our fellow brothers and sisters in anyway that we can to help sustain and support them. So, my call to action that I have for you today, is to find any way or multiple ways that you can take the "spotlight" off of yourself and point it at someone else for the glory of the Lord. Have a blessed day! 🙂
