The Power of a Parent - 12/15/20
The Power of a Parent
Hey family, today my heart is a little heavier than usual, as after 3 months it is Jackie and I's host kids's last day with us. With these circumstances underway, the Lord spoke to me about the power that a parent has on a child. A parent has the power to make or break a child's life for the better part of, if not, their entire life. God invites us to ALL become sons and daughters of His Kingdom, and in turn He promises to lavish us with all the strength, the courage, the wisdom, and peace that we will need to be successful in light of His call on our lives, just like a good parent should.
TODAY'S PRAYER
"Dear Heavenly Father, it is more than appropriate that I address You as the best father anyone could ever have, as You are perfect in all of Your ways, tend to us in so many unthinkable ways and never skip a beat or drop the ball, even when we, Your children do so often. Thank you for being a parent to those who are without parents, to those with parents who have missed the mark, and for filling in the gap for those in single-parent homes. You do it so perfectly and today I give You all the glory, honor and praise today! In Jesus Christ name we pray, AMEN!"
SCRIPTURE
Parental Love
1 John 3:1-3 NIV
"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure."
A Parent Who Provides
Deuteronomy 10:14-22 NIV
"To the Lord your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it. Yet the Lord set his affection on your ancestors and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations—as it is today. Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer. For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of Lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes. He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt. Fear the Lord your God and serve him. Hold fast to him and take your oaths in his name. He is the one you praise; he is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes. Your ancestors who went down into Egypt were seventy in all, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars in the sky.

Quote of the Day
"Show your children God’s love by loving them and others as Christ loves you. Be quick to forgive, don’t hold a grudge, look for what’s best, and speak gently into areas of their lives that need growth."
