God's Selection Process - 3/2/21

Hey Family, God wants to do a work in and through you, but before that can take place work a proper foundation must be put in place. Let's dig in to see what that foundation looks like.

Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, you are such a good father. You know your children inside and out, and you take the time diligently and precisely hand-select us for the tasks of your will. As we see in scripture (Acts 10) today, there are certain things that often have to be in place before a great work can done. Lord, as you work through all of us today, I ask that you might create in us the proper foundation to become a living vessel for you to work through. In Jesus Christ name I pray, Amen.

Scripture
It Starts with His Will
Acts 10:3‭-‬5 NIV
"One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!” Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter. "

God's will sets the plan and all the parts into motion.

It Continues with Our Intimacy
Acts 10:9 NIV
About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.

The simple but powerful act of intentional prayer and intimacy with the Lord, produces in us an ability to hear Him over the world's noise.

It is Completed Through Our Willful Works
Acts 10:23-29 NIV
Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests. The next day Peter started out with them, and some of the believers from Joppa went along. The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends. As Peter entered the house, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet in reverence. But Peter made him get up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.” While talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people. He said to them: “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean. So when I was sent for, I came without raising any objection. May I ask why you sent for me?”

The willingness of our hearts and the actions that we take proceeding that determine just how much work God will truly do. If you continue to read on in Acts 10 you will see one of the first times where Gentiles experience the full effects of the Holy Spirit. This was put in place by God's will, fostered by our intimacy with Him, and the posture of our hearts and willingness to do His work. May the Lord add a blessing to the reading of His word.

Quote of the Day
"Do not under any circumstances, underestimate the power of Jesus Christ.  That act is the recipe for missed blessings, missed opportunities to glorify the Father and one less time to experience the greatness of the Holy Spirit."
- Alvy Butler, Jr.

Have a blessed day! 🙂
