Hard Conversations

Hey Family, today the Lord has placed on my heart the topic of having hard conversations as a part of our ministry. Hard conversations are hard, because they can leave you feeling vulnerable, they can unintentionally hurt feelings, and even end relationships. However, they can also produce a transformative work in people's lives and perspectives, especially when we intentionally include Jesus Christ and/or His love.

Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of conversation, both the hard and the easy ones. Your Son, Jesus Christ, perfectly displayed this during His time on Earth and gave us a guide on how we ought to treat and talk to our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Through that example we have no excuse to not speak out against injustice, divisions within the Church, blasphemy, heresy, unlovingness, and inactivity in spreading the Gospel. And as the body of Christ we have the responsibility to promote advocacy, Christ's love, grace, reconciliation and unity. For this to take place we need You, Jesus, to be the leader of our conversations and actions to help bring us back to the way it was in the beginning before sin. In Jesus Christ name we pray, Amen.

Scripture
Mindful Speech
Colossians 4:2‭-‬6 NIV
"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."

Keep That Mouth Clean
Ephesians 4:29‭-‬32 NIV
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

Quote of the Day
"Difficult conversations are almost never about getting the facts right. They are about conflicting perceptions, interpretations, and values."
- Douglas Stone

Have a blessed day! 🙂
