Defining Your Relationship with God

Hey family, earlier this week I wrote a message on inviting Jesus Christ into your heart, which initiates the start of potentially the best relationship that you will ever be a part of. The reason why I say potentially and NOT absolutely, is that if we do not hold up our end of the relationship it will very quickly become one sided and often jaded. From the get go we must deny ourselves and take action to make our relationship with Christ what it ought to be. A flourishing, servant-hearted journey aimed at giving Him ALL the glory and Him working for our good.

Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You with a repentant heart for all the times where I have viewed our relationship through a platonic lens. Lord, help us to see the relationship for what You meant it to be and genuinely live it out with all joy and anticipation each day. Just like a husband and wife or parent and child, with You, Lord, we are to be vulnerable, unconditionally loving, serving one another, intimate, patient, grace-filled, self-sacrificing and so much more. Change our hearts and mind, Lord, that we might desire a relationship such as this with You. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, Amen."

Scripture
Christ's Sacrificial Love
John 1:9‭-‬14
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

A Full-Fledged Relationship with God
Isaiah 54:5‭-‬10
For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called. For the Lord has called you like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when she is cast off, says your God. For a brief moment I deserted you, but with great compassion I will gather you. In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you," says the Lord, your Redeemer. "This is like the days of Noah to me: as I swore that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, and will not rebuke you. For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

Quote of the Day
"It's not the law of religion nor the principles of morality that define our highways and pathways to God; only by the Grace of God are we led and drawn, to God. It is His grace that conquers a multitude of flaws and in that grace, there is only favor. Favor is not achieved; favor is received."
