Work God Out of a Job or Die Trying - 9/1/22

Work God Out of a Job or Die Trying
Hey Family, something that I have struggled with for years, especially since I have gotten into the work force, is trying to make as much money as I could that subconsciously I could say, "I don't need God to provide. I got this!" And at first reaction many might say, "Oh, that doesn't apply to me." But I urge you to take a moment to think about your choice of career, think about your heart and mind posture when you consider investing, and your constant desire for more money even after you have taken care of the essentials.
Now before you say anything about me demonizing any of those things I just mentioned, please recognize that I do not believe more money is "evil" or that investing/saving makes you a greedy, money-hoarder. I am asking that in doing those things are you arriving at the conclusion that in the end (50s, 60s, 70s - essentially retirement age) you will no longer need God's monetary and material provision? Please spend some time to think and pray and repent on this if necessary.

Today's Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, You are the Master of All Creation, You knit us in our mother's womb and knew us long before we ever a sliver of a thought in the minds of humans. You provide so abundantly and far before we even have the opportunity to consider that it was You working in our midst. Father, You have given Your children the desire and ability to work so that since the 'Fall of Man' we might be able to provide food for our stomachs and shelter from the storm. However, some, dare I say many, have fallen into trap of the dreadful and cruel master, Money. So, Lord, as it relates to money and everything else, help us to live lives with our hands open, so that You might remove whatever is not of You and we might receive every bit of the blessings and mercies that Your will has for us. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer, Amen."

Scripture
2 Corinthians 9:6‭-‬15
Be Generous With All that You Have
"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!"

Hebrews 13:5‭-‬6
Strive to Be Content Daily
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Quote of the Day
"Abiding does not mean sitting idly by. It means resting in the work, resting in the moment, resting in the truth, resting in the confidence that God is your provision."
