Chill Out... It's God's Choice Anyway. - 5/15/20

This morning I continued my reading through Romans, specifically Romans 9. In this time in the Word the Lord reiterated to me that in this life with all of its unknowns, twists and turns, and "let downs" that the Lord redeems them into life's most Earth-shattering eye-openers and life-giving blessings that often keep on giving far beyond our comprehension. One key thing that stuck out to me in this chapter was God's choice of who He deems as His children. All throughout scripture [Genesis 17:7, Exodus 19:5-6, Deuteronomy 7:7-8...to name a few] we see that God claims the Jews/Israelites as His chosen people or His children, but when Christ died on the Cross an important shift occurs. That shift is the adoption into  the body of Christ to ALL who believe . For it is written in Romans 9:6-8, "It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring." And to expound upon that in Romans 9:25-26 it says, "25 As he says in Hosea, “I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people;and I will call her ‘my loved one’ who is not my loved one,”26 and,“In the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘children of the living God.’”
You see, God has complete overarching jurisdiction to make and mold the things that He puts in place. And we can argue and fuss about how things "would be better this way or that way", but in the end God is in control. As Francis Chan puts it, "You may have a 'better' plan, but you don't have a universe..." Have a blessed day and remember to relinquish your grip on this life, because God is the one who is in charge. 🙂
