Going the Extra Mile - 10/15/20

Going the Extra Mile
Hey Family, the Lord revealed something important to me yesterday that has been stirring in my spirit since then. He said, "Alvy, when you are humbly asked to go one mile, graciously go another." Before we dissect that any further let us go to the Father in prayer.

PRAYER
"Dear Heavenly Father, today I must say that I am proud to be one of the many torch bearers of the gracious second mile mentality. I know and many others have done a grumbling and complaining, second mile at some point in our lives. And yet, others have completely refused to do any more to help anyone's cause at all. We recognize now, that that is not how Christ calls us to live our lives, and we ask for forgiveness. Additionally, we ask that You would give us a cheerful heart, ready to extend, roll up our sleeves, and get to the work that needs to be done and then some, just as you did on Cross. In Jesus Christ name we pray, Amen!"

SCRIPTURE
Gracious Giver
Matthew 5:38‭-‬42 NIV
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’   But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.  And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.  If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."

Reaping and Sowing
Galatians 6:7‭-‬10 NIV
"Do  not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. "

Perseverance in the Work
James 1:9‭-‬12 NIV
Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

Quote of the Day
"It's never crowded along the extra mile."

Have a blessed day! 🙂
