The Blessings of Discipline - 7/13/20

Hello Family, Happy Monday! Today, as I continued to make my way through Hebrews, I read chapter 12 and I was really praying and seeking diligently about what the Lord wanted me to know about, understand, and apply about His view of discipline in our lives. In that time the Lord revealed to me some obvious things, such as discipline is something that most people don't exactly like in itself, they may like the results of it, but often people don't enjoy the pure concept of discipline. In addition to that, the Lord revealed that because He loves us, He also must discipline us. But a new concept that the Lord spoke to me about, is that without discipline we are not deemed true sons and daughters of the King. For it says in Hebrews 12:4-8 NIV,
"In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says, “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,  because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”  Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all."

You see, God uses the exact opposite of what the World desires and thinks of as good and positive to bring us all the more closer to Him. So close to that He would give us such a high title as sons and daughters of the King of all Creation. Think about that for a moment?... SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE MOST HIGH. Praise Him right now, if haven't already!
God loves you and I so much right now and forever, that He is willing to put you through a few menial trials in the grand scheme of life (death of family and friends, sickness, loss of a job, loss of money and materials things, and more) to get you to see the point of life. That point is, that when we discipline ourselves to fix our eyes on Jesus Christ that the things of this life will grow strangely grey. And the most beautiful, vibrant picture comes into full view; a life spent being worry-free, focused, and pursuant of the Father and eternal life with Him. Have a blessed day! 🙂
